Thank you for your interest in the Coonamessett River Coalition!

Apparently, you share our concern about pesticides being used to grow cranberries along the River. We hope you also share our goal in "creating a greenway connecting Coonamessett Pond to Great Pond," which would preserve the current vistas and bog lands. Now is the time to work with the Town to consider other uses for this land, such as passive recreation, research, education, and healthy fish habitat.

Your help is vital to our efforts. If any of the following areas are of interest to you, or if you have other ideas, please let us know. (However, if you just want your name added to the number of people who support our coalition, we thank you.)

Please select an area of interest and email us back ASAP:

  • POLITICAL EDUCATION, e.g., conducting petition drives, writing articles and letters to editor, developing slide shows and videos, preparing frequently asked Questions (FAQs); organizing speaker's bureau.
  • PUBLIC RELATIONS, e.g., preparing newsletters, flyers and brochures; working with National Public Radio; designing, making, and selling items such as T-shirts.
  • OUTREACH, e.g., helping with hospitality, developing materials and information brochures, participating in river festival, block parties, parades, etc.
  • FINANCE, helping with allocating funds, grants and managing the budget
  • MEMBERSHIP, signing up new people (let us know who to contact); sending out letters, signing up new people at special events, phone tree, etc.
  • OTHER, writing letters to selectmen, editor, town administrators, or town meeting members. See our links page for details.
Download our petition and collect signatures of residents and voters!

We are a dedicated group who have good times together, too, and invite you to join us more actively. We hold an organizational meeting every month at the Unitarian Meetinghouse at 840 Sandwich Road. We're gearing up for educational outreach for the spring town Mtg. 2003!

Thanks again for your time and support in this effort! We look forward to seeing you and contacting you in the near future!
